Reflashing and Computer Updates
Computers have been in cars since 1991 when engine management systems powered by CPUs became standard. Computers regulate engine performance by computerizing ignition timing, the air-fuel mixture, idle speed, and transmission shifting. As time goes on, computers have become more and more vital to vehicle performance.
At Harrell’s Auto Service, we perform computer reflashes, or software upgrades, using technical service information from the manufacturer. Performing a reflash solves bugs in the software and is often the answer to active check engine lights because it helps the computer recognize normal changes in the vehicle over time.
